In today’s lesson, we studied Chapter 4: “go to the place in order to do,” which corresponds to "shi ni ikimasu". We practiced both the question form and the answer form. For example: shumatsu wa nani o shini ikimasuka? (What do you go to do on the weekend? ) shumatsu wa eigakan e eiga o mini ikimasu. (I go to the movie theater on the weekend to watch a movie.)
The question form is simple. To make shini ikimasu into a question, we just add "ka" at the end.
We also learned that “go,” “come,” and “return” are movement verbs. When you move to a place for a purpose, Japanese uses に to show that purpose. So "ni" in this pattern means “to” or “in order to.” Simple Examples with “coming” and “returning” * tomodachi ga benkyo shi ni kimasu. (My friend comes to study. ) * sumafo o tori ni modori masu. ( I am returning to get my sumafo.I forgot my smartphone at the office.)
Even if it feels difficult now, you will learn it step by step. There is no need to rush. You were able to speak long sentences smoothly, and you understand how to change verbs into purpose expressions. You improve in any language by speaking. Wonderful job! See you on Friday!

You told me that you are a big fan of Dragon Ball and that Piccolo is your favorite character. We also talked about your favorite Japanese foods. You like ramen, takoyaki, and sushi, and I love all of them too! I would be interested in trying takoyaki in Los Angeles to see how it tastes. You said that Ponyo is your favorite Studio Ghibli movie. My favorite Ghibli movie is Howl’s Moving Castle. I was also very impressed when you told me about your job. It sounds like a challenging job, but also a very interesting and rewarding one. I personally enjoy visiting Universal Studios even more than Disneyland! In today’s lesson, we practiced self-introductions. Some of the Japanese words were a little difficult to pronounce, but you kept trying and were able to say everything very well by the end of the lesson.
