In today's lesson, we started learning Lesson 8,focusing on the plain style と、おもいます、in polite speech, I think that,This expression comes after a sentence and shows that the speaker is giving their own opinion or feeling about it.
For example:
→ Has the teacher already gone home?せんせいはもうかえりましたか？
→はい、かえったとおもいます。 Yes, I think so. または Yes, I think he/she has.
→ いいえ、かえっていないとおもいます。No, I don’t think so. または No, I don’t think he/she has.
→Do they sell alcohol at that convenience store?あのこんびにでおさけはうっていますか？
→はい、うっているとおもいます。 Yes,- I think they do.
→ いいえ、うっていないとおもいます。- No, I don’t think they do.
In this section, you can form natural Japanese sentences by using the plain style of verbs, adjectives, and nouns, followed by 'とおもいます (I think).
We'll review the same section again in the next lesson.
