Dear Justin san,
Today, we went on an imaginary trip to an eel restaurant in Kyoto! You ordered a “Jo” (premium) unagi rice box, along with your favorite Japanese tea.
We practiced some useful basic expressions such as “Water, please.” and “What do you recommend?”
When I explained that “tokujo” (extra premium) is like a “double cheeseburger,” you laughed a lot! That’s right—the taste is the same, but the portion is bigger.
We also practiced using question words:
where (dokoどこ), what (nanなん),which (docchiどっち), and when (itsu いつ).
In addition, we learned demonstratives with gestures:
これ kore/ this / それ sore / that / あれ are / that over there)
ここ koko/ そこ soko/ あそこ asoko (here / there / over there)
Today, I also learned about your motivation for studying Japanese for the first time, and I was truly impressed. Since 2020, you have been fascinated by Japanese culture and started learning Japanese as a hobby. Your motivation is wonderful, and your communication ability is excellent....
Most importantly, you are enjoying learning Japanese, and that makes each lesson very enjoyable for me as well.
In our next lesson, we will study negative forms such as “〜じゃありません” and “〜しません.”

When you look at a verb and are unsure how to change its form, first consider which group the verb belongs to, then check how to change it, and try it!
In the practice exercises for the new lesson, Lesson 7, you were paying attention to this.
