We studied the te‑form for the verbs shirimasu and mochimasu, including the present form, negative form, and past form. First, for shirimasu: Following the usual pattern, the negative te‑form would be shitte imasen, but we do not use this. The correct form is shirimasen. The past negative form is shirimasen deshita.
For mochimasu: The te‑form in the present tense is motte imasu. The negative present form is motte imasen. The past negative form is motte imasen deshita.
“Shitte imasu” is the only exception. We will study the present negative te‑form, past te‑form, and past negative te‑form in more detail later.
We also practiced counters. For example, nen (years) and dai, which is used for computers, cars, and similar items. It’s good to gradually learn these counters step by step.
Next time, we will continue studying the te‑form. We will also check the conversation and vocabulary in the textbook.
