The most important an key point is that racing pigeons are “dead end host” this means, they can not give it to other animals.

There are many official studies about this item and all explain the same that pigeons can NOT get bird flu and pigeons can NOT give bird flu to other species.
The problem in Belgium is that Racing Pigeons are now in the official category of “poultry” and they must follow all the rules which are taken for poultry but they should be a separate category for Racing Pigeons because they can not get it and can not give it to other species.

Some of most respected and famous Veterenary have made now a committee together with KBDB staff which are negotiating with Belgian Government to find a solution and so far they are making good progress. This means they made a deal with Ministry that Racing Pigeons can fly around the loft because normally the rules say that all poultry must be locked inside the loft/house and this committee agreed with Ministry that pigeons can get an exception from the poultry rule.
